For dogs of any age without livestock experience - the hardest group to train!

Not every dog grows up on a ranch — but with the right structure, instincts can be refined into skill.  Our Starter Guardian Program helps LGDs of any age learn appropriate behavior around livestock, build trust, and develop the calm, confident temperament required for real working life.

The starter program:

  • Temperament and livestock aptitude assessment

  • Structured introduction to livestock and boundary work

  • Predator awareness exposure and desensitization

  • Crate, recall, and roaming control

  • Veterinary care

Adoption Fee Starting at $695

Outcome: By graduation, your dog will be livestock-aware, and ready for supervised work — the bridge between family guardian and true working LGD.

Proven Impact: Ranches using trained LGDs see up to 100% more livestock survival and far fewer predator conflicts.

Zoey is proof that big things come in small packages. Though she was discarded along with her siblings, her spirit remained unbroken. Zoey is the "Sentinel" of the sisters—vocal, alert, and incredibly brave. She is often the first to sound the alarm when she hears something out of place, showing the early sparks of the protective instincts this breed is famous for. She is playful and spunky, bringing a sense of joy and fierce determination to her foster home.

Despite this rough start, Cash has emerged with a remarkably thoughtful and observant nature. Currently thriving in a specialized foster home, he is the "thinker" of the duo. He is patient, calm, and possesses a steady curiosity. Cash is living proof that with the right intervention, an abandoned pup can become a discerning and reliable guardian.

Everest

Born August 2025, Male, Great Pyrenees

Everest Journey

Everest’s journey started in a place no puppy should ever know. At just 3 months old—an age when he should have been curled up in a warm bed—Everest was dumped in the heart of the desert.

A kind soul found him wandering the sand, but the betrayal didn’t stop there. When the original breeder was identified, he looked at his own creation and refused to take him back. Then, a second heartbreak: a rescuer promised to save him, but the moment Everest broke his leg, she walked away. Injured dogs take resources, you can’t make money off an injured dog, I guess.

But Everest isn’t a paycheck. He’s a soul. The moment we heard he was headed to the shelter with a shattered leg, we stepped in. It hasn’t been easy. It took four months of grueling recovery, twice-weekly vet visits, and more casts than a puppy should ever see. But Everest never gave up.

Today, the cast is off. He’s relearning how to walk on a leg that was once written off as “worthless.” Because of his time spent healing, he’s developed a unique, gentle bond with smaller creatures. He doesn’t just watch birds; he cherishes them. He’s a “Chicken Bodyguard” with a heart of gold.

We are looking for a special home—one that understands he’s a survivor. He needs a life guarding small stock like poultry, where he can be a hero without the risk of large livestock accidentally re-injuring his mending leg. He’s potty trained, smart, charming, and ready to be the center of someone’s world.

Everest was left for dead, but he’s ready to live. Are you the one he’s been waiting for?
